16th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Youth Awards Luncheon
Vikki Pryor, Founder of Change Create Transform Foundation presented a scholarship to Janei Chambers a graduate of Mount Vernon High School, and currently a freshman at Spelman University in Atlanta, GA, with the first William L. Carter Community Leadership Award at the African American Men of Westchester’s 16th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Youth Awards Luncheon. Janei was honored for her mentoring, community service and fundraising activities for those in need. White she was unable to attend the luncheon, her mother and uncle accepted on her behalf. Janei, aspirations is to become a physical therapist.

Guests: All Scholars are welcome to invite one guest, at the Family Discount of $200 per person. All guests must be at least 18 years old. Should both your parents wish to attend, we will have a waiting list because we have a limited number of seats. After April 7, once we know how many registrations we have, we will open the waiting list. Your guest fee includes dinner on Friday, Saturday tour from 10:30am to 5:30pm, and breakfast on Sunday. Local transportation to the dinner on Friday and Saturday tour are included. All other activities are exclusively for current and Alumni Promise Prize Scholars.
Refunds: All payments are due in full by April 17, 2017. Fees are non-refundable after May 7, 2017.

Register for the 2017 Promise Prize Scholar Summit on July 28, 2017, at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington, DC. Scholar feedback was utilized in designing this year’s Summit. Thank you to those Scholars who were able to provide feedback.
- Join us on Friday, July 28, 2017, at 6:00 pm at Willard to travel by motor-coach to the Swahili Village restaurant in Maryland. We will kick-off our Annual Promise Prize Weekend with a discussion with members of the African delegations in Washington, as well as a special African dinner and music.
- On Saturday, July 29, 2017 we will start bright and early at 7:45am with a engaging discussion of the role of government, politics and the nation’s Capitol as it impacts leadership and activism, historically, currently, and for the future. Our tours and meetings will begin at 10:30 and will include the White House, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the Jefferson, Memorial, the Washington Monument, and conclude with the new Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture. At 6pm we will convene for an informal dinner, leadership debrief, and other activities at the Willard Office complex across the courtyard from our hotel.
